About our Speaker:
Greg Gramsky, Executive Program Manager, HELMConsulting, Inc.
For the better part of the last decade, Greg Gamsky (PMP) has worked as a project management consultant on large implementations of enterprise marketing software at Fortune 500 companies. Prior to being a consultant, Greg worked in IT in the Las Vegas Travel and Hospitality industry with a focus on Marketing projects implementing Customer Loyalty programs, Sales Force Automation, Data Warehouses, Call Center
systems, Customer facing web sites, Customer interaction technologies and Direct Mail systems.
He spent a total of over 9 years in start-ups in California, Washington and Nevada. One start-up began in the Entrepreneur’s house with just three people and one even IPOed.
He has worked at Oracle and Sybase in their Los Angeles field offices in technical and business development roles.
Greg graduated from USC with a Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration and a minor in Business Administration. He is married and he has two adult children, one who works for Electronic Arts as the Economist for the next Star Wars mobile game and one who carries on the proud family tradition of Project Management for a nimble start up in Colorado. In his spare time, he enjoys hiking, movies and reading.
Software projects mostly fail and they sometimes fail spectacularly. The Project Manager is always the prime suspect for causing the failure just like the husband is always the prime suspect when the wife is murdered in a TV movie. What can a Project Manager proactively due to prevent participating in a starring role in yet another failing software project?
Learning outcomes from this chapter meeting:
Project Leadership not Project Management or Project Administration is a key project success factor. If you are going to be the target of the Blame Game, you might as well take out a full-page Ad in the New York Times declaring that you are the PROJECT MANAGER.
